What is IMAF-Europe?

The International Martial Arts Federation - Europe is a group of countries, martial arts schools and organizations, who are working together to promote all martial arts e.g. Budo, and to improve the conditions under which they are learned and practiced. We support all Japanese, Okinawa, Korean, Chinese martial arts, and other martial arts that are already adopted or to be adopted.  By bringing our interests, experience and resources together, in a genuine effort to benefit the martial arts that we share, by renewing on a personal as well as organizational level our commitment and dedication to martial arts, to maintain and raise both the technical and spiritual level of the practice of our arts through Europe, in particular to benefit our members.

Who is IMAF-Europe?

  • IMAF-Europe is an international family of those who practice both sport and traditional martial arts.
  • IMAF-Europe is open to organizations dedicated to instruction in both sports and traditional martial arts.
  • IMAF-Europe is all-style Japanese and Okinawa Karate;
  • IMAF-Europe is Judo and all-style Ju-Jitsu/Jiu-Jitsu/Jujutsu;
  • IMAF-Europe is all-style Kobudo and Kobujutsu;
  • IMAF-Europe is disciplined sport martial arts, Budo and kickboxing.
  • IMAF-Europe is all schools Chinese and all styles Korean martial arts;
  • IMAF-Europe is Philippine and Indonesian martial arts;
  • IMAF-Europe is disciplined sport martial arts as well as traditional martial arts, in a spirit of real cooperation

What does IMAF-Europe do?

IMAF-Europe is involved in a wide range of activities; our main efforts have been centered on developing uniform examination criteria for school and federation accreditation. Additionally, IMAF-Europe and its national members are organizing yearly martial arts seminars, and higher Dan-examinations, as well research for the development of improved standards both in teaching and training. IMAF-Europe also presents seminars in instructional methodology, in tournament judging and arbitration, and in accreditation procedure.

MISSION STATEMENT: The primary purpose of IMAF-Europe will be to act as an organization that promotes and support,  teaching, practicing, and studying of all trad. martial arts and other martial art styles.

What activities does IMAF-Europe employ?

Activities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • The accrediting of international organizations who promote martial arts.
  • The certification/recognition of Dan grade ranks; conducting examination for higher Dan grades;
  • The training, licensing and certification of martial arts instructors, examiners, referees, judges, and arbitrators.
  • The presentation of annual International Martial Arts e.g. Budo Seminars. For promotion, they are the face of IMAF-Europe. The presentation of special seminars and other instructional meetings as deemed appropriate by the board of the federation;
  • The presentation of an annual European Congress;
  • The presentation of tournaments, competitions, championships.

How to join IMAF-Europe?

IMAF-Europe is an European federation of national martial arts federations, also named IMAF-Europe - branch: country, which offers no individual memberships. Schools and associations interested in IMAF-Europe should begin by requesting the application for membership for their national branch of IMAF-Europe, and accreditation by its national board. Upon accreditation, schools and associations are able to participate in IMAF-Europe
